At home and in the workplace, frequent maintenance is important. This goes beyond keeping the kitchen counter tidy, but includes the things you don't typically see including your plumbing and heating systems, which functions best with regular and proper maintenance activities.

We use our plumbing appliances every day. Frequent dishwasher, washing machine and water heater use caused them to build up dirt and grit, and to show a lot of wear and tear if left unkempt.

M&F Delta install and maintain our work to the highest standards, but here are a few tips and techniques to implement daily, weekly, and by season, to help you preempt problems.

Daily Maintenance

These list items are fairly easy, and can be done in tandem with your typical daily chores! Keeping up with these will make keeping your bathroom and kitchen nice and clean easily.

  • When using your taps, keep an eye for leaks.
  • When getting things from cupboards underneath sinks, check pipes for signs of corrosion or leaks.
  • If you notice poor water pressure make note to call a plumber.
  • Invest in a catcher for your sink and shower drains, and empty it after each use.

Weekly Maintenance

Weekly plumbing maintenance can be done in ten minutes or less!

  • Check for rust in your water.
  • Wait for full loads of clothes before running your washer.
  • Do a quick walk around of the house to look for signs of water damage on walls and floors.
  • Clean your shower head with vinegar to prevent hard water buildup.
  • Inspect the toilets for signs of leaks.

Seasonal Maintenance

By keeping up with seasonal maintenance tasks, you can avoid problems or find trouble spots before an emergency occurs.

  • Check for changes in your water and electricity bills. Unusual increases may indicate a technical problem.
  • Examine your heaters and boilers for signs of rust.
  • In winter make sure your tap are able to drip before freezes, and that outside pipes are insulated.
  • In spring clear your vents of debris.
  • Make sure that your main water valve is in working order at each season.
  • Inspect and test outdoor hoses and valves.
